PE&RS Special Issue - Lidar remote sensing for vegetation assessment

Papers accepted for Silvilaser 2009 presentations and included in the proceedings, can be expanded and submitted for the Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing (PE&RS) special issue to be published in January 2011.

Important aspects to consider:

  1. There will be a new review process for papers submitted for the PE&RS special issue, separate from the review process for paper acceptance on the Silvilaser program and proceedings.
  2. It is expected that PE&RS manuscripts are full version, thoroughly developed manuscripts, up to 27 pages, as mentioned in the PE&RS Instructions for Authors. As such, authors should not submit the same Silvilaser paper for the PE&RS special issue, but an expanded and improved version of it.
  3. All manuscripts are to follow the PE&RS Instructions for Authors that are published in each issue of the Journal and are available on the ASPRS website (PE&RS instructions for authors pdf).
  4. Submit PE&RS manuscripts by email to both Guest Editors: Sorin Popescu (s-popescu@tamu.edu; Tel: (979) 862-2614) and Ross Nelson (rfn104@gmail.com; Tel: (301) 614-6632). Do not submit manuscripts for the PE&RS special issue to the Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Russell Congalton.
  5. Deadline for manuscript submission is December 11, 2009.
  6. A total of 8 papers will be published in the Silvilaser special issue of PE&RS, as per journal policy.
  7. Papers that are reviewed favorably, but will not fit within the Special Issue, can be revised and submitted as new papers to the PE&RS Editor-in-Chief for consideration for possible publication in a future regular issue of PE&RS. However, papers that are reviewed unfavorably, or require significant changes and major revision, should not be considered automatically for regular submission.
  8. The review process for Silvilaser papers included reviewers’ recommendations for manuscript submissions for the PE&RS special issue. Authors are encouraged to consider reviewers comments and suggestions when deciding to expand and submit their manuscript for the PE&RS special issue. However, all papers accepted for Silvilaser oral or poster presentations, whether with a Yes or No PE&RS recommendation, can be expanded and considered for the PE&RS special issue.
