Conference History
The name "Silvilaser" was coined in 2006, but the series of international conferences started in 2002. The logo was kindly provided by Silvilaser 2008 organizers.
- 2002 - The first conference, held in Victoria, British Columbia, was hosted by the Canadian Forest Service Pacific Forestry Centre
- 2002 - Australian Workshop on Airborne Laser Altimetry for Forest and Woodland Inventory and Monitoring, April 18-19, 2002, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
- 2003 - ScandLaser, was held at the Swedish University of the Agricultural Sciences in Umeå, Sweden in October of 2003; Selected papers from the ScandLaser conference were published in the Scandinavian Journal of Forest Research in 2004, Volume 19
- 2004 - NatScan, was held in Freiburg, Germany
- 2005 – Silviscan, was held at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA; selected papers were published as a special issue of Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing, in December 2006
- 2006 – Silvilaser, November 2006, in Matsuyama, Japan; peer-reviewed papers were published in the Japanese J of Forest Planning, special issue
- 2007 – Silvilaser was held in conjunction with ISPRS Workshop on Laser Scanning 2007, Espoo, Finland, September 2007
- 2008 – Silvilaser was held at the Edinburgh Conference Centre
